Guy Tipping, A man in a million
It was with
great sorrow we had to announce the sudden death of Guy Tipping
on the 10th
November 2005.
Not only was he
a respected and hard working member of the Shark Motorsport Team,
he was firstly a
loving husband to wife Lorna and great father to his two children Charlotte and
Ben.

As a young
school boy Guy was in to as many sports as time would allow, football, cricket,
running to name a few. He started kart racing as a teenager at this local track
'Camberley' and was soon one of the top drivers in the club. That's were he also
met Lorna, she's always said " If I wanted to see Guy on a weekend I had to go
to the track because that's were he would be ". Guy worked very hard both
driving and as a mechanic. In his career he drove for a number of teams and
drove in various countries in and around Europe and as far away as Dubai to
become possibly one of the best drivers of his time. He raced in a number of
different classes including gearbox and has filled many shelves at his home with
trophies.
After Guy
stopped competition driving he became a keen and competent golfer and when not working on a kart he
would be off to the golf course. This sport also took him to many place around
the country.
During
the day Guy worked in the family garage training as a mechanic, panel beater and
paint sprayer but after all that he decided to start up his own company in the
building trade.
In
between all the work and sports Guy and Lorna found time to have two wonderful
children Charlotte and Ben. Guy always said that having the children was more
pleasing than win all his trophies put together.
Daughter Charlotte
has been a keen Irish Dancer for some years and Dad was always there for her and was talking about how proud he was of her achievements. Son Ben had a
go at karting but decided to follow his main passion football. After Ben started
playing for a local team Guy decided to take a football coaching course so he
could help Ben and the team, but that's the kind of person he was. Always
helping others.
Over the past
few years Guy has been working along side Steve McMahon at Shark Motorsport
developing the kart chassis with some
good results. On race weekends you could always find him in the pits running the
two Denis brothers Dan and Ollie and helping any others that wanted to pick his brains.
Guy was a great favourite with the young
drivers as he always had time to interact with them. If he wasn't making up
nickname for them he was teaching them how to improve their race skills or how set up
their karts.
What ever
problems life throw at Guy and it did, he took it all in his stride. Playing
fare was always top priority.
It was a
very upsetting day, but over a hundred family and friends crammed their way into the chapel in
Aldershot to say their farewells to what can only be describe as a man in a
million.
Guy
will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him but never forgotten especially at
Camberley kart club as we intend arranging some kind of memorial trophy in the
memory of Guy Tipping.

Words of condolence.
If you would like to add a few words,
I was
very lucky to meet and marry such a wonderful man, 28 years ago. We
would have celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary next year. Guy was a
very special person, a wonderful husband and father. He was a very kind,
genuine, patient man and he was the best. I will draw strength from the
strength he showed and the love we shared and the many things he taught
me over the years. Guy did football at school, gave this up when he
started karting then when he retired from karting he took up golf a few
years later, but motor racing was his passion and he really enjoyed it
when he got involved in karting again a few years ago. Guy will live on
in everyone's memories and in our children Charlotte and Ben.
Although we don't know many of you personally we recognise your names or
children's names as we had updates on progress and results after the
race meetings and would like to thank everyone who played a part in
Guy's life, as you to gave him memories. We would also like to thank
everyone involved in this tribute to Guy especially Steve Webb and his
family.
Constructing this
page has been one of the saddest things I've ever had to do.
Myself, Alita, James
and Jack have only known Guy for the past six years but feel we've known
all our lives.
When James started karting
he and Guy hit it off straight away. We could not have asked to meet a
more friendly and helpful person than Guy. We owe a lot of our success to
him and will always be grateful for meeting him.
He will be remembered by us
for ever.
Alita, Steve, James and Jack
Webb.
So sorry to hear about
Guy. A real tragedy. He was always very pleasant and helpful and we,
like all other Shark team members, will miss him.
Nick and Eddie Powell.
We did
not know Guy in great depth or for many years but that makes no difference
to how much you can genuinely just really take to someone.
Guy
was just that sort of man. We only met him around the kart tracks over
the past few years but in those years we have grown to like him very much
and it was quite clear what a lovely person he was.
We
would like to pass our heartfelt wishes to his family and close friends
because he is quite obviously someone who is going to be sorely missed.
With
much love to you all at this very sad time.
Love
and best wishes
Emma,
Simon and Hannah Pym xxxx
It was with
great sadness that I heard of the passing of Guy. Please convey my
condolences to his Family.
Len & Zak

So very sad to hear of the passing away of Guy. A competitive friend back
in the 1970's, many happy memories as a Junior, particularly at
Blackbushe. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
Dave & Pete Mellish
Please send Camberley Kart Club's wishes to Lorna Charlotte and Ben as you
quite rightly say he will be sadly missed in the pits at Blackbushe, but
not forgotten.
There are members who remember him as a junior driver back in the mid 70's
when they started karting.
Our very best wishes
Elaine
Chair and Competition Secretary. Camberley Kart Club
I could not have wished for a better mentor
for my boys Daniel and Oliver than Guy. He taught them how to race karts,
how to win, how to lose with dignity, how to work hard and stay cheerful
despite the weather. His good humour always rubbed off on them and his
jokes were legendary. He lives on in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
